This mouth organ is made from a dried gourd and eight bamboo pipes arranged in a double layered raft, fitted together and sealed with bees wax. It is the most fascinating of the Sabah native musical instruments. This instrument is lovingly crafted, cut, shaped and tested, played during wedding celebrations, engagement parties, harvest festivals, first birthday of children, animistic religious ceremonies and other associated events of importance to the community. It is popular among the 'Kadazandusun' community.

The Kadazandusun are the largest of the indigenous group found in Sabah, the northern part of Borneo Island. They are traditionally rice growers and are deeply rooted in their traditions.
